PAINTER / POET
The Full Story
I believe in art as I believe in language, and I believe the two are inextricably intertwined. I learned to read by age three, and became a poet -- engaged for most of my life apart from purely visual art -- and engaged to an art I often consider the dark twin of painting.
Poetry led me down many paths, followed closely by love, including (eventually) a mental hospital. It was there I learned to touch brush and color to canvas.
In love and healed by both arts, tugged simultaneously by image and meaning, I am lucky enough to express myself now upon paper, canvas, board, and page.
There, I attempt to express the depth of emotion, of ego, of experience. As a result, my art is both a confession and an exploration. It is a full story.
